Liberty In Bloom – Our Prayer Garden
St. James Prayer Garden To Be Visited By Judges In The America in Bloom Program
We are excited to join in the Liberty in Bloom program. Liberty is one of the cities participating in the America in Bloom program in 2019. The city will be judged against other cities in the same population range. America in Bloom envisions communities across the country as welcoming and vibrant places to live, work, and play – benefiting from colorful plants and trees; enjoying clean environments; celebrating heritage; and planting pride through volunteerism.
On June 6 and 7, the America in Bloom judges will visit many locations in our city that show our pride and vitality. Liberty has many unique places and the St James Prayer Garden where you can walk and pray the rosary in a beautiful garden setting is certainly a very unique place.
On June 6, our prayer garden team leaders Gretchen Lathrop and Sandy Turner will give a brief tour of the Prayer Garden for the judges.
Our prayer garden was started over 15 years ago and is funded mostly by memorials and contributions. It is maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers.
The garden’s focal point is the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Other features include the stepping stone rosary and the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross on the perimeter of the garden.
