The St. James Prison Ministry is in need of used bibles to help support their ministry and are holding a Bible Drive. The bibles collected will be taken to the Clay County Detention Center where they will be given to detainees requesting a bible.
The Catholic bibles must be paperback or soft cover – hard cover bibles are not allowed in the detention center.
To donate a bible, take it to the Narthex in our former church and put it on the cart labeled Bibles. The Narthex is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm.
If you’re not sure that the bible you want to donate is Catholic, look in the first few pages of the bible. If you see the words “Nihil Obstat,” and “Imprimatur.” These Latin terms mean there’s nothing objectionable to the faith in the work, and the work is printed with the permission of a bishop. One of the most popular Catholic bibles is the New American Bible.
