Come Home To Communion

On March 13, 2020, due to the pandemic and in the interest of public safety, Bishop Johnston dispensed all Catholics in this diocese from the obligation to participate in Masses and holy days of Obligation.

With the decrease in Covid cases, fewer restrictions, and other considerations, effective June 1, Bishop Johnston has removed the general dispensation from the  obligation to participate in Mass   and holy days of obligation.

Those with serious health concerns, pre-existing conditions, the homebound and their caregivers continue to be dispensed from the Mass obligation.

While many parishioners have returned to Mass, there are still many who are hesitant about taking the first step to returning.

Our diocese has initiated the Come Home To Communion Campaign, designed to provide tools to help encourage everyone to return to Mass and the sacraments.   Family and friends are the greatest influencers when it comes to the decisions we make from day to day. If you have a family member, friend or neighbor who you have not seen return to Mass since the pandemic began – or maybe fell out of practice before then – the diocese has provided a few tools to help you encourage them to Come Home to Communion.
