Katie stated that school is on Spring Break. Katie met with Betsy Lewey and discussed Emergency Equipment. The chair clusters have been put back in the Narthex. The AC in the gym has been fixed. The A/C unit over the Social Hall still needs to be fixed. Service projects – washing windows inside and out will occur soon. Religious Ed has cleaned the kneelers and the pews.
Deacon Chuck Update:
Deacon Chuck did not have anything to report.
Fr. Mike Update:
Father Mike stated that the Grief Group met on 3-14-22 and 22 people attended, led by Juanita Thornton. The Grief Group meeting went well.
Old Business:
Dan Bacon discussed the Saint Mary’s Food kitchen. There may be 3 teams and that 7 people volunteered to be cooks. Dennis Federof will coordinate commodities. Trey and Judy Katzer will coordinate menu planning. Len Platt will coordinate transportation. Money is collected on the third Sunday of each month for Saint Mary’s Food Kitchen. Those interested in volunteering at St. Mary’s food kitchen can apply through Sign-Up Genius and this is posted in the Church Bulletin. The meals for St. Mary’s food kitchen are prepared at the kitchen at St. James. Jay Meacham will be the coordinator for the Discernment. He coordinated the Discernment at St. Charles with other staff assisting, and in that Discernment, the group had 4 meetings. Father Mike stated that the Discernment should be in April or May – the sooner the better. The last meeting of the Pastoral Council before summer will be in May. There will not be any Pastoral Council meetings in June and July.
New Business:
Religious Education classes are being held monthly on Wednesday evenings. The Church is in the process of interviewing new people. A survey will be given to families to see what they would like. The position would be a coordinator/overall Faith Formation Director. Will discuss having a mass run by youth when Yvette is at the next meeting. The Blood of Christ will not return to masses for quite a while according to the Bishop. Deacon candidate Juan Rodriguez stated that in whatever church he ends up in, he would like to see a mass in Spanish. Father Mike stated that Saint Anthony’s and Holy Cross already have a Spanish mass and can accommodate those who want to attend a Mass in Spanish. Dan Bacon mentioned adding Spanish to some of the signs but Father Mike and Katie stated that if we edit signs for the Hispanic population, we would need to do it for other groups as well. Father Mike said that we do offer translators in events as necessary.
Dan Bacon mentioned the idea of having a multi-cultural/ethnic food gathering/festival and all members agreed that this would be a good idea, but the event would probably not occur for quite a while. RC discussed the Military Outreach Ministry (MOM), Ann Puck – Military Outreach Coordinator, and the Blue Star Ceremony in May – to celebrate families of active duty members.
