Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes (12-5-22)

Members Present:

Father Mike Roach, Dan Bacon, Yvette Lopez, Phil Baumert, John “Eddie” Baker, Kevin Casel, Sherri Porterfield, Libby Hernandez, Louis Angles, Betsy Lewey, Deacon Chuck Koesterer and Patrick Schaub.

The opening prayer was read by Kevin Casel

Deacon Chuck Update:

Deacon Chuck discussed the Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass to be held on Monday 12-12-22 at 6:00 pm with a meal afterwards, the first time the meal was served since 2019. Discussed Reconciliation to be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday 12-13-22. Discussed the times that Christmas mass would be held. Discussed the collaboration between the Catholic Family Ministry, the Kansas City, Missouri Diocese, and mental health counseling and education.

Father Mike Update:

Discussed that some positions within the church are hard to fill but we are fortunate to have many good volunteers in religious education. Father Mike stated some parishioners have not returned after Covid but we want to make them feel welcome when they do return. The plans for the rest of Advent and Christmas are going well. The Advent Giving Tree Program has received more than ever before. The church is in a good financial position and the school year is going well.

Yvette Lopez Update:

There is a tenant at Hillcrest.

Dan Bacon Update:

Libby Hernandez and Louis Angeles will end their terms on the Pastoral Council in May of 2023. There will then need to be a discernment for 2 new members. Jay Meachum will perform the discernment and an announcement will be placed in the January 2023 Church bulletin noting the 2 available spots on the Pastoral Council and invite parishioners to apply if they are interested.
