Health and Safety Ministries
The safety of our parishioners, especially during Mass is of the utmost importance to all of the staff and volunteers at St. James. We have created two ministries to help us achieve these ends:
The Emergency Assist Ministry
- Purpose: To provide first aid and other assistance to any person on our property who needs medical assistance during our weekend Masses.
- Who: The ministry is comprised of people who have had training in first aid. That includes: nurses, doctors, EMT’s and others who have had formal training.
- How: Our goal is to have at least one, ideally two, First Aid ministers scheduled for each mass. The POC knows where the Emergency Assist minister will be during Mass and will summon them when needed.

Point of Contact (POC) Ministry
- Purpose: This ministry performs the vital function of occupying the locus of attention during any emergency that may arise during a weekend Mass. The POC will direct other volunteers to designated stations to assist with medical, or environmental emergencies. Environmental emergencies may include Fire or Tornado situations which may or may not involve the evacuation of the sanctuary.
- Who: One trained volunteer is scheduled for each weekend mass. Each volunteer usually serves one time per month.
