Health and Safety Ministries
The safety of our parishioners, especially during Mass is of the utmost importance to all of the staff and volunteers at St. James. We have created two ministries to help us achieve these ends:
The Emergency Assist Ministry
Who:
How: will be during Mass and will call them if help is needed.
- Purpose: To offer first aid and help to anyone on our property who needs medical care during weekend Masses.
- Who: This ministry is made up of people trained in first aid. This includes nurses, doctors, EMTs, and others with formal training.
- How: Our goal is to have at least one, and ideally two, First Aid ministers at each Mass. The point of contact (POC) knows where the Emergency Assist minister is sitting.

Point of Contact (POC) Ministry
- Purpose: This ministry plays an important role by being the main point of focus during any emergency that happens at a weekend Mass. The person in charge will guide other volunteers to specific spots to help with medical or environmental emergencies. Environmental emergencies can include situations like fires or tornadoes, which might require people to leave the sanctuary.
- Who: One trained volunteer is assigned for each weekend Mass. Each volunteer usually helps once a month.
