Do the Dedication Candles get lit every Sunday?

There are four candles that are placed in sconces high up on the four main support beams of our worship space.  If you were at the dedication you may remember that these candles required tall ladders in order to be reached.  It was a glorious sight when the Bishop blessed our Easter Candle thus initiating the process of candle placement and lighting. It was reminiscent of the Easter Vigil when the church starts in darkness and the Light of Christ illuminates us and our surroundings.

There are two opportunities each year during which the candles can be lit:

• The Feast Day of the Parish (Feast of St. James the Greater)
• The anniversary of the dedication of our church.
