First Communion

Sacrament Prep For First Communion

Children who are in 2nd grade (or older) can prepare to receive the Sacrament of First Communion.  Current participation in either the St. James School or our Courageously Catholic Religious Education Program are required.  This year we will be using the Blessed curriculum, which will be presented at home by the parents and includes Dynamic Catholic’s awesome weekly video presentations.  Sacrament prep will be supplemented both through the St. James School and our religious education program, and will include a retreat for both Sacraments as well as necessary practice and readiness sessions.

First Communion Calendar – Updated January 2021

The child’s preparation for reception of this sacrament is done primarily in the home.  Parents participate in two preparation meetings – one at the beginning of the process and the other towards the end – to support the children in their efforts.  Registration for sacrament prep begins in August, parent meetings will be in January, and the children celebrate the sacrament with their families during the Easter season.
