The Lord be with you. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
That very day, the first day of the week, two of Jesus were going to a village called and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. It happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognitor

replied to them, "What sort of thing?" They said to him, "The things that happened in Jesus, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how our chief priest, the ruler, both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified, but we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it is now the third day.
The women from our group, however, they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body. They came back and reported that they had indeed seen the vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those went to the found.
And he said to them, "Oh, how Foolish you are, how low of heart believe all that the prophets spoke. Was it not necessary that the Christ discover these things and enter into his glory? Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to them in all scripture. As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on further, but they urged him, "Stay with us. It was nearly evening. His day was almost over. So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them. With that their eyes were open and they recognized it, but he damaged. Then he said to each other, "Were not our hurts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way open to us." So they set out at the return to Jerusalem. They found together the 11,
the Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to the recounted town to them in the breaking of the bread. The gospel of the Lord.
You know, as we come together on this third Sunday, we listen once again to one of the appearances of Jesus to his disciples.
And this story is called two disciples that were very close to
death. They were lost. They had heard rumors of him being raised from the dead, but they didn't understand what that meant. And so all of a sudden this stranger walked with them and he tells them the whole story of what was to happen and how Jesus had crucified rose from the dead and is living with us. They didn't understand what he meant. They didn't recognize him until he broke the bread and gave it to them. That's why we come together as a people of faith. And that's why we celebrate Easter season for six weeks from Easter Sunday for 50 days. Easter candle continues to burn brightly to remind us that no matter what the worry, no matter what the darkness, no matter what the doubt or fear in our lives, in our family, in our world, the light of Christ shines bright. But that light will never be extinct. We listen
to the acts of the story of how the disciples formed the early church and centuries later we are celebrating that church. It's always bringing people together. It's all about trying to fear and worry and anxiety. And I think the greatest example of what it means to live out himself. He has one message to give to the world and that is very strong about the gospel message that we cannot report the virus. Many leaders do not want to hear that. I don't want the pope to get in the middle of
his role just not to war but only can be built when we try to work together. Think of the difficulties in our family. Think of the difficulty in a parish community. It's always hard to have everybody in the same place at the same time. Everybody has their own needs, their own worries, their own anxiety. But we always have to say what is best for our community, what is best for our family, what is best for our we will always have there will always be difficult. But the message of Easterus resurrection brings us the gift of hope. Jesus resurrection brings us gift of life. And that's why you those stories Sunday after Sunday and they remind us that we have to trust in the message of the Lord. The story is an important one for me because in 1984 we had
gathered all the priests of our dascese together and formed a program called the program and we broke into smaller groups and met once a month for years with kind of an agenda about caring our lives in each other and having a safe to discuss what it means to be a priest, how to serve people, and how do we get through the difficult times of life. Many of those groups fell away by this time. But I was part of a group that continues to meet up from 1984 to this day. And that's been a very good group for me because we meet once a month for dinner where our lives are together and we trust one another two very good

We continue to pray for our newest Catholics that were brought in. We pray for our second graders receiving the sacment of holy communion and we remember our confirmation. O Lord, we pray, these offerings of your exultant spirit, and as you have given her cause for such great gladness, grant also that the gifts we bring may bear fruit in perpetual happiness through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy father, almighty and eternal God. For with the old order destroyed, a universe passed down is renewed, and integrity of life is restored to us in Christ. Therefore, every overcome with joy, every land, every people exalts in your praise as together we sing.
You are indeed holy, O Lord, the f of all holy. Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray that by sending down your spirit upon them like the dwfall that they may become for us the body of blood of your son of our Lord Jesus Christ. For at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his hands, he took bread, giving you thanks, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take this all of you and eat for this is my body which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice once more giving thanks, gave the chalice to his disciples, saying, "Take this all of you and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of Do this in memory of me.
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us to be in your presence and minister to you humbly. We pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, make us grow in love together with Leo, our pope, and our bishop, and all who serve your people. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all have died. welcome them into the light. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the blessed virgin Mary the mother of God with St. Joseph her spouse with St. James and all the saints that we may merit to be coairs to eternal life and praise and glorify you through your son Jesus Christ.
