Hallelujah.
At this time of the year, we notice some of our members are missing. We also noticed that there's some new faces in our gathering this mid graduations happens everywhere. So some of us have relatives family members graduating elsewhere. So that's where they are. And there's some others who relatives families are here. That's why visitors are here. Welcome. Today we kind of bid farewell to Jesus as we remember him ascending to heaven. But we also remember that he promised to be with us to the end of time. So let us acknowledge that Jesus is with us in our gathering. And so we make our sign of faith in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit. The grace of our lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the holy spirit be with you.
We know that with God's mercy, salvation came to us through Jesus. We know that mercy continues to sanctify us, preparing us for eternal life, but also strengthening us as we continue our earthly journey, for holiness, for unity with one another, and for union with our God as we celebrate the sacment of the eukarist. So we call upon this mercy again.
Lord Jesus, you came down to the earth to bring us salvation. Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus, you are present among us to continue assisting us as we
with us through our journey of life. You lead us and guide us. Lord have mercy. May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life.

The Lord be with you. I read for the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
11 to the mountain which Jesus ordered them. When they saw him they worshiped him but they died. Then Jesus approached and said to them all power and given to you. Go therefore to make disciples for all nations by touching them in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit

I have to think for a little bit right at the beginning of the first reading. We know that during this Easter season, our first reading on weekends and Sundays as on weekdays, the first reading is from the Acts of the Apostles. But today we're going backwards. We the beginning of the act of the apostles. But then after all, it was said in the first book. Well, what is the first act of the apostles in the second book? What is the first according to scholars? It was the author of both the gospel of Luke and the act of And so the gospel of Luke is the first book and the act is the second book. And we can make that kind of connection because in both the acts of the apostles and the gospel of St. Luke, a name was mentioned.
Up to now, nobody knows who that person was. But in the Greek language, it means beloved of God. and putting things together as we heard today something about those who receive baptism in Christ
the beloved of God. And if we accept that, that means all of us, each one of us who were baptized in Jesus, we have become a beloved child of God. That's something that we don't often think about. We are more wrapped up in in our own witnesses, in our sins, than being a beloved
What about making some kind of
connection between we as human experiencing our human relationship and our relationship with God let's say we often pray and call God addressing God as
for many of us and I hope all of us we do experience some kind of good relationship with our fathers or let's think mothers also as it seems at some point in our life or maybe even now uh we may not act as our parents best of We may even disobey and make our parents sad, disappointed or sometimes angry. But all of those situations make our parents not loving us.
They may express their angry. They may express they may let us know that they are angry. They're disappointed. They are sad.
I think God is the same way. So how about changing ourselves in such a way that would help us. I think it also encourage us and motivate us motivate us to become better as a better as a family member, better as a friend, never as a spouse, as the person that God created us to be.
The word attend
is the body going up, but there's some other meaning that we attach to The word of it can also mean to bring ourselves to a higher level to a better level to a better person that we are.
I think it's important that we cate the feast of ascension of because through his we are
with him. These pictures that the men of Galilee just look at there look those wonderful vision but then they were told what are you doing here? There's work to do. He's gone but he's here. But how do we cate
He charged his followers, his beloved to do while he's in heaven. And remember that he did tell his followers, his disciples that when he goes up, he will send down the Holy Spirit, which we will celebrate next Sunday, the feast of Pentecost. It is the Holy Spirit that will help us, will enlighten us with wisdom and with the ability to understand things that we are not yet able to understand.
There was a member in missionary who was a professor of theology when I asked him of the that I encountered theology and I knew that he knew all the answers. So I why don't you give me all the answers and he said if I tell you everything now your brain will explode
as you develop your understanding you will understand everything that you want to know. So the same way the Holy Spirit as Jesus to his disciples will come upon us
to understand God's revelation as we are able to understand
it is the 40 days after the resurrection. as he went to heaven. So we used to call it a Thursday because last Thursday
out of concern for our modern world many people many believers have to work on weekday. So it is permitted uh to the regional uh bishop ordinary to move to transfer this to the Sunday and that's what's happening in this most of the diversity in this country
to Sunday.
What about the number 40 to what I read?
numerology, Jewish numerology, the number 40 represents a transformation or the process of transforming just like Jesus.
Jesus nights of the Israelites 40 days in the And so we cate
that should signify to us that we are transforming because of our faith in the resurrection of Jesus. Because we take his word seriously that his sending of the Holy Spirit will guide us, will support us, will encourage us, will strengthen us, will he usate

You are indeed holy and to be glorified, oh God, who loves the human race and always walk with us on the journey of life. your son present in our midst when we are gathered by his love and as for the disciples now for us he opens the scriptures and breaks the bread therefore we ask that you send forth your holy spirit to sanctify these gifts of bread and wine that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord Jesus
On the day before he was to suffer on the night of the last supper, he took bread, sat broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take this all of you and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, healave and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying, "Take this all of you and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
The mystery of faith.
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of Christ, your son, our savior, led to his passion and death on the cross to the glory of the resurrection and ascension. and whom you have at your right hand. We proclaim the work of your love until he comes again and we offer you the bread of life and the chalice of blessing favor on the church in which we for the sacrifice of Christ that us by the power of the spirit of your love we may be the eternal among the members of your church. whose body and blood we have communion. And so having called us to your table, Lord, confirm us in unity. So that together with Leo, our pope, James, our bishop, with all deacons, women and men, religions, and your entire people. As we walk your ways with faith and hope, we may strive to bring joy and trust into the world. Remember our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the feast of your Christ and all the dead you alone have known. them to rejoice in the light of your face and in the resurrection give them the fullness of life also to us when our earthly pilgrimage is done that we may come to an eternal dwelling place and live with you forever in communion with the blessed virgin Mary mother of God the blessed Joseph her spouse the apostles the marts St. James and all your senior.
All glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father, for Forever and ever.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, be thy name, thy kingdom, thy will be on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptations, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from s and all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your peace, my peace I give you. not on our but on the faith of your church
