Both the Parish Choir and Contemporary Adult Ensemble is open to adults who have a passion to serve the Lord through music ministry.
Parish Choir
The St. James Adult choir is open to women and men (High School age and older). Voices of all ranges (bass through soprano) are welcome. The choir typically involves 20-30 voices and is accompanied by piano or organ. The choir leads the assembly in a variety of musical styles. The Adult Choir rehearses 1 ½ hours per week on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:00pm. The parish choir leads music at the 10:30 liturgy on Sundays and most Holy days. All singers are welcome. During the current pandemic, our choir is taking the necessary precautions to safely rehearse and sing. Rehearsals are kept under 1 hour. Singers are physically distanced and masks are required at all times. Hand sanitizer is available when you enter the musician area. Those unable to attend an in-person rehearsal are invited to join the choir via ZOOM.
Contemporary Adult Ensemble
The St. James Music Group is a smaller (8-10 person) ensemble comprised of voices accompanied by various instruments including piano, guitar, drums (and other instruments as available). The Music Group welcomes involvement of women and men.
*UPDATE* Due to the pandemic this ensemble is not currently meeting.
Under normal circumstances this group rehearses and leads music on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at our 6:00 pm Mass, playing all styles of Music; from traditional music, to more contemporary Catholic music. The Contemporary Adult Ensemble could be for you if you enjoy singing as part of a small vocal group or can contribute as an instrumentalist.
